Women of a Beautiful Soul
This work honours the women of the Wiradjuri Nation and the sacred relationship between women, culture and Country.
Created using natural fibres and materials, the piece reflects traditional practices of gathering, weaving and creating with what the land provides.
Paperbark and stringybark form the foundation, representing Country itself. Raffia, weaving and twining echo the knowledge passed through generations of women. Emu feathers, mussel shells and possum skin speak to the deep connection between land, water and life.
At its centre stands the figure of a woman — strong, grounded and connected.
She represents women who carry culture, nurture community and hold knowledge for future generations.
This work is about balance, responsibility and purpose. It reminds us that when we live in relationship with Country and respect the resources it provides, we return to a place of harmony and belonging.
